Rev. Shiley was born in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania on August 7, 1902. He attended the seminary at Springfield, Illinois from 1922 to 1925.Vicared in Cleveland, Ohio for one year. In 1926 he entered the Wisconsin Synod seminary in Milwaukee. He graduated in 1928 and accepted a call to begin Woodland Ev. Lutheran Church, West Allis, Wis. Pastor Shiley was married on July 5, 1928 to Alma C. Koch. They were blessed with four daughters: Irene, Joanne, Lois, and Miriam. In 1940 he went to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Waukesha and served there until 1956 when he was called to begin Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
Pastor Harry Shiley went to be with our Lord on May 22, 1979.
